Blur VS Split Second - Which do you prefer?

http://www.gamesradar.com/f/blur-vs-splitsecond/a-20100423165031556090

I havn't played either yet and want to know your views?

Blur looks like a Mario Kart style game, getting power ups and shooting at other players with the added bonus of leveling up your cars, though the graphics look a little dated. It has alternative modes to racing where you can just battle which is a plus.

Split Second looks absolutely next gen in graphics plus has the a diffent concept where by charging your power play meter you set off tack explosives, crash planes and building etc. This game awards you for your driving skills by charging your power play meter.

What do you think?

Sounds great, please bring it along. I will be trying to get myself a copy before then though....

Do you think it will be the new Flat Out 2? Do you know if it plays over the Lan or only online as multiplayer?

I own both and if you look at the poll's comments (the article linked in the OP) -- everyone prefers blur over split/second. It just looks shiny.

Having played both, they're both great games, and will go down in history remembered as real games that breathed new life into racing multiplayer.

Blur is more combat oriented. FAR MORE so in fact, and it is way more akin to the mayhem of Flatout 2, in fact, SOGC is just about banking on it being the next Flatout 2, especially with ASUS and Thermaltake working on a little league next year...

Split/Second is far more for the driving connosieurs. It's for those that loved Gran Turismo, *really* loved it, rather than playing need for speed.

They are apples and oranges, but Blur suits a better LAN/competitive dynamic than Split/Second.
